National Military Vehicle Museum
- Edinburgh, South Australia
In November 2014, Eidolon Paranormal were honoured to be invited to the first paranormal investigation of the National Military Vehicle Museum at Edinburgh, South Australia by our good friends, and paranormal investigation team Lyon Paranormal
The National Military Vehicle Museum began its life in 1993 in the Old Messenger Press building in Port Adelaide and moved to its current location in Edinburgh Park only a few years ago.
The current location is actually part of an old Australian Military base where the preperation of TNT was undertaken during World War 2, this gives the location a distinct Military feel as the buildings onsite are all genuine war time buildings, including heritage listed toilets, Mess Hall, Guard Huts, Hospital/Barracks and the TNT factory.
All the vehicles onsite are privately owned and cared for, but housed at the museum so the general public can enjoy them, and learn about the history of the vehicles.
The Musuem is run by The Military Vehicle Preservation Society of South Australia Inc. (MVPSSA) which is a group of enthusiasts dedicated to the preservation of historic military vehicles and equipment. The MVCSSA was formed in 1976
The museum is open every Sunday and Public Holiday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with the exception of Good Friday and Christmas Day. The museum can also be opened at any time, by arrangement, for group bookings.
Investigation
This is an amazing location spread across a large area. We were granted permission to get inside the vehicles to conduct EVP sessions, which greatly aided our investigation in regards to possibly contacting the spirits of former soldiers who may have served with the vehicle.
One investigator witnessed something quite unusual in the main Museum, what he could only describe as looking like someone sprinkling glitter from a great height.
This was not insects or dust, and only lasted for a few seconds before stopping, and not appearing anywhere else again that night.
There was also a number of knocking sounds, and footsteps were heard outside the hospital area whilst we were investigating. Two of the team went to check the area, and could not find anyone nearby what-so-ever.
One investigator experienced some anomolous readings in the Mess Hall area, of which we have no explanation. A device registered a constant reading in one area only, and did not register it again. Futher exploration did not reveal any visible source for the anomolous reading to be naturally, or plausibly explained.
Interestingly, our Museum Volunteer supervisor also had an experience for himself in this location whilst locking the facility. As he went to close and lock a door, he distinctly felt someone push back on the door from the inside, at the same time he experienced goosebumps and an "electrical sensation" go through his body....
